The Journey To Success: From Existing To Creating A Life Of Significance

reaching-top-success-journeyFor some reason we too often hold a diminished view of the power we have to effect our life over a given period of time. This is a direct result of looking at things that we negatively obsess on, that actually have no effect upon the overall goals that we are striving to reach. It is documented that those that have become successful lived as if they were experiencing it before hand. They felt certain it would happen at some point and had a laser-like focus to not let the distractions blow them off course. They carried themselves as if they recognized that they were different, that they had found something that fulfilled them, a higher calling that they invested into daily which they were convinced was guaranteed to give a handsome return.  But how could they be so certain?  What did they buy into?

You Already Have The Puzzle Piece That Fits
You see, I believe everyone is born with a hole that is designed for them to utilize their abilities in order to fill and thus experience fulfillment. When you begin to discover who you are, and uncover what you’re passionate about, it’s amazing the difficult tasks you’ll blow through without even a second thought. Mundane tasks and obstacles are hurdled without so much as a second thought.

Case in point; I use to have a disdain for writing. I was such a perfectionist that I desired to avoid writing unless I absolutely had to. I strongly preferred and enjoyed one on one interaction and group teaching in my corporate rolls and wrote only when I had to. This mostly consisted of bullet points or outlines for what I might be presenting. It was because, well, it was easier.

That being said, once I connected my desire to help others discover how to transition into a fulfilled life, which naturally called  upon my training background, coupled with my online marketing experience, it was a whole new game. I quickly began to get to the point where I couldn’t stop myself from writing. Over the past 2 years having authored a myriad of blog posts, articles and encouraging emails as well as literally hundreds of pages of training material, it is obvious that I evidently always had the ability to write, but what really changed?

The Roadmap
What changed was the source of my motivation. What changed was discovering and connecting with my passion which basically…well, changed everything. I felt deeply that what I had to say would not only help online entrepreneurs but that they needed to hear it. That connection, created a desire to learn more so that I could help others in a greater capacity. Self-education and personal development breed confidence that eradicates your fear. That confidence wouldn’t let me give up on my passion and that my friends, it is the road map to success that translates to a fulfilled life.

How do I personally know? Because when I first began, I still felt fulfilled growing my business even when the revenue was just barely breaking even. Why? Because I was getting paid in emotional paychecks that I realized were so incredibly valuable. You see I believe that so many people pursue purely monetary gain to the extent that they’re emotional bank account is over drawn. They’re emotionally bankrupt to the point that even if they gain wealth, they don’t feel successful. There are examples of these poor souls everywhere. You have to be committed from the outset not to become one of them when you begin your journey.

Redefine Success: A Life Of Significance
Success has to be defined as achieving a high level of both emotional and monetary reward or it’s missing key ingredients that will end up being expressed in self-destructive behavior.  There is no feeling so horrid as to have worked tirelessly to gain wealth only to realize that you still have a hole inside that is not filled which leaves you feeling utterly empty. You must understand that you are not geared to be satisfied with living life by existing, nor by just achieving monetary success. Its only when we create a life of significance, where we impact ourselves through impacting others and making a difference, that we experience true fulfillment.

It starts by taking personal inventory, acknowledging and then utilizing the power you discover that you truly possess. The most empowering feeling is when you realize that you have the ability to control your environment. The most demoralizing, is the hopelessness that accompanies feeling that you are imprisoned and enslaved by it. When I personally coach others regarding this, I encourage them to commit to the journey to find and define who they are; to be unique and be extraordinary as a daily celebration of that discovery.

The journey involves the following:

• Search for what fulfills you, find your purpose
• Take personal inventory of your skills & abilities
• Combine both to redefine who you really are
• Build an overall business model around your fulfilling purpose and your abilities
• Commit to self-education & personal development to build confidence in your abilities
• Commit to stretch yourself as you learn, realizing that a significant business life requires personal growth
• Surround yourself with like minded individuals that are on the same path to create a significant fulfilled life

The Edison Example
Let’s take Thomas Edison as an example. Here’s a quote from Napoleon Hill:
“Thomas Edison dreamed of a lamp that could be operated by electricity, began where he stood to put his dream into action, and despite more than ten thousand failures, he stood by that dream until he made it a physical reality. Practical dreamers do not quit.“

Now keep that in perspective when you read that Edison himself said:
“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”~Thomas Edison

If you think about it, when he got to failure 8,000, what made him keep going? I would challenge you that it isn’t just disciplined will or commitment but rather; he made a choice to allow himself to become “intoxicated” with a dream, that caused him to mold it into a purpose and pursue it with a passion, no matter how many people called him foolish for doing so. That’s cool stuff in my book!

It’s the only way that success finds us… so find that candle that’s lit inside you and throw a bucket of gasoline on it. Let it fire you up to follow that passion, to equip it with self-education and live life in celebration of who you truly are as you begin to walk over the bridge to the other side of your life’s transition to fulfilling significance.
